Elisabeth of Austria (5 July 1554 – 22 January 1592) was Queen of France from 1570 to 1574 as the wife of King Charles IX. A member of the House of Habsburg, she was the daughter of Maximilian II, Holy Roman Emperor, and Maria of Spain.
This is my portrait replica of the girdle belt worn in the portrait of Elisabeth of Austria in 1573, by Jooris van der Straaten.
There are multi layered filigrees in gold tone plate along the length and waist of the belt, decorated with ouches and hand sewn 5 piece faux pearls. At the bottom of the belt is a large filigree centre piece with ouches and vintage brass cherubs. The centre piece is finished with a baroque style shell pearl.
The belt is adjustable with an extension chain to the back.
