Tudor Chain Of Office - Livery Collar - Lord Chief Justice Of The Common Pleas

This is my replica of the chain of office/livery collar given by Henry VIII to Sir Edward Montagu between 1546/1547.

The livery collar was the chain of office for the Lord Chief Justice Of The Common Pleas.

Consisting of 'S's alternating with intertwined knots; the centre of the chain with a triple, five petal, Tudor rose flanked by two Beaufort portcullises.

The chain is also similar to the one worn by Sir Thomas More in the famous portrait by Hans Holbein the Younger.

My replica is made with antique gold plating on brass. The central rose is hand painted with enamel.

This is a unique and hand crafted item. It measures approximately 1 metre with an extension chain so you can adjust it according to your costume.
